September 14: Exit Slip
One thing mentioned in the Frank McCourt interview was about the "teacher's mask". He talked about how the teachers will bring in a persona to face the students in the first classes, and it will only work for a few lectures until the students realize that it's not real. In the reading for another course (EDST 401), we also learned about the teacher's persona and how it's used by teachers to form efficient teaching style. The two readings seems to be in contradiction with each other, as one encourages teachers to "act out" their teaching style while the other tells us the reality. However, I find that the two readings actually complement one another, since the persona forms out of ourselves, which may not be different from our true selves too. In addition, Leah mentioned that depending on the context, we may present ourselves as different roles naturally. It will be interesting to see how I will develop this persona in the future.
